Be a Tree...Not a tree hugger
Psalm 1:3-4 "He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away."
If you didn't read the previous devotional on Psalm 1:1-2, take a minute to do so. For the one who walks with the Lord and meditates on HIs word, there is great certainty. The one who does that will produce great things for the Lord. Do you ever think about your life and what it is that you are producing?
Many times when we think about this topic we look at all of the excuses we have. We think, well...I'll walk with the Lord and spend more time in HIs word when I get our of college or when I get married, or when I get a better job..or when I am finished with this...or whatever we can come up with in our minds. Our lives can be paved with "I'll do that when...." It's as if we are looking for a perfect time to begin and until that time...we exist in a holding pattern. Did you know that the root of procrastination is perfectionism? We put things off because we are waiting for a perfect time that is overly idealistic and unrealistic. Regardless of your situations, the time to begin walking with the Lord is right now.
Notice how the passage doesn't talk about any of the environment in the beginning. There are no perfect conditions in life. Even if you are in a barren wasteland and nothing is going how you wanted it to go, you can still yield great fruit when you walk with the Lord and His word.
Be encouraged and walk with the Lord today! His shoes are all laced up and He is ready for you...
