Does The World Know Your Father?
1 John 3:1-3 "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God' and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure."
Does it blow your mind that God identifies you as His child? Growing up, I was very proud that I was the youngest son (of 2) of Dale Coates. I belonged to my dad and I was his responsibility. I lived under the roof that he provided for our family, with the help of my mom, and I rode around in the old red Ford pickup truck that he provided for us for transportation. In most places people knew me as Dale's boy, but when my dad went to my sporting or school events, people knew him as Clayton's dad. People knew my father through me.
As a pastor for many years (in my 25th year already- doesn't seem right until I look into the mirror and see the wrinkles form and the grey hair overtaking my head) I always enjoy meeting friends of friends. People will hang out and wait for me to finish conversations because they want to introduce me to their friends from out of town. It always tells me 2 things. 1) They are so excited that their friends are visiting and want others to know their friends and 2) They like me and want their friends to know me.
As a single adult, who are you excited to see when they come in town for a visit? Do you take them to church with you? Have you introduced them to your Heavenly Father because you are excited for them to meet? Or, have you introduced your Heavenly Father to them through prayer until the timing is right for them to be introduced.
Easter is just a few days away and it is an amazing time for introductions! I am praying for a great harvest of introductions for God's Kingdom....be encouraged as you live your day for the Lord!
