Encouragement for Single Parents
Isaiah 40:28,29 "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unreachable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength."
I was reading this passage this morning and began thinking about how incredible it is for all Christians, but Single Parents in particular. Single parents do so much for their children. I once said that a single parent strives to be both mom and dad but have sense changed what I say after talking to 1 particular single mom. She came up to me at a single's conference and said, "I disagree with what you said about me being both mom and dad." I said, "ok, let me hear you out." She said, "I can't be my kid's dad...and that is the problem...no matter what I do, I will never be both mom and dad. I can only be the best mom I can be and there is a void in my child's life that is labelled "dad."
Regardless of how you look at it, single parents have a great calling to meet all of the needs of their home, finances, children, etc. This is a huge calling and one that can cause fatigue and weariness.
God wants you to know that when you feel as if you are running on empty, HE has a ton left in the tank to get your across the finish line. He loves your children. He loves you. He knows who you are, where you are and what your needs are. My prayer for you is that when you feel as if you are stressed to the max, that you look up to Heaven, take a deep breathe, let it out, and say "I need you Lord....and thank you for hearing me and helping me." He will provide, He will protect, He will provide rest and He will Comfort. Be encouraged today!
