Great Advice and Ministry Update
I have had a mentor in my life for many years. His name is Warren and he was my youth pastor growing up as a middle and high schooler. He left my senior year, which really stunk, but he poured into my life enough that I was partially headed in the right direction. I had a lot of rough edges in my life and although I knew right from wrong, I didn't always make the right choice. To this day I still deal with the impact of bad past choices in my life. God has redeemed and restored the life of my youth and I am very grateful.
Any time I need advice or counsel, Warren is always there for me. It may just be a text exchange, we may talk over the phone, or I may drive up to North Hollywood to see him when he is in town doing a Bible study for his daughter and other Hollywood actors. Regardless, he has given me sage advice which has helped me focus and or refocus over the past 24 years of ministry.
Once again I needed advice and counsel so I turned to Warren. I am having difficulty raising support to get R116 and Encouragingsingles.org off of the ground like I want. I have only been able to raise a small portion of my goal. My goal is to raise $48,000 this year to fund the ministry. $24,000 is to pay for part time help to administer the ministry (correspondence, marketing, contacts, speaking engagements, etc. The other $24,000 is to acquire technology and manage social media presence, shoot and edit videos, shoot and edit video drive curriculum for single adults. YTD (Year To Date) I have been able to raise $2000 of the needed $48,000.
He was very honest with me and said that some people may have trouble giving to the ministry because you have a full time job at a church. I never thought about that but it was a good observation. I believe Paul was a tent maker and for me, R116 and encouragingsingles.org is my tent. It is a passion that I have been going for 15 years and will do for the rest of my life because I believe in God's call to single adults. God wants to change the world through single adults and I want to be a part of what God is doing.
He gave me some final advice. He said, "Clayton, work on the depth of your life and God will reveal the width. His timing is always perfect. I am here for you."
I leave you today with these same words. "Work on the depth of your life today and God will reveal the width." Matthew 6:33 reminds us to seek first the kingdom of Heaven and His righteousness...and all these things will be added to you."
Be encouraged today as you live for Jesus!
