Now We Get To Romans 12:1-2
Romans 12:1-2 "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Yesterday's video devotional reminded all of us that God us HUGE! We don't know Him mind, He doesn't seek our opinion when making decisions about the world, and that ALL THINGS are from Him, to Him and Through Him. That is a great reminder right before Paul, the writer of Romans, says, "THEREFORE" be a "Living Sacrifice" and "Be Transformed!" Believers, have to sacrifice the pursuits and desires of the flesh in order to truly live. Paul wouldn't be even talking about this if it wasn't a struggle that he recognized. It was a struggle for him and it is a struggle for you and me. I can tell single adults all day long, "if you wan't to find God's best for your life in a mate, you need to focus on Jesus and He will provide that mate for you," but it's a lot harder said than done. It is absolutely true, but it is also absolutely difficult....and that is exactly why I say it over and over. We have such a desire to take charge and control of our lives that we have to be constantly reminded that sacrifice is necessary for us (Christians) to truly live.
Paul also says that we are to be TRANSFORMED. This isn't talking about salvation because Paul already identifies his audience as "brothers=believers." Paul is reminding other believers to be transformed. This transformation, Paul says, takes place by renewing our minds. Another way of saying this would be "reminding" our minds. We forget things so easily that we have to daily remind our minds of 3 things, 1)Who We are, 2)Whose we are and 3)Why we are here. When we recognize that we are 1)redeemed and restored 2)we belong to God 3)We exist to bring God glory in everything...then we will be able to discern the will of God.
Many single adults, and married adults, want to know the will of God for their life but they never crack open God's word. They trip and stumble over their own feet and blame God. They say that they don't have clarity from God yet they don't know His voice because they don't know HIs word. The only way we can discern that a relationship or anything else in our lives is God's will, is to be mentally renewed so that we can be transformed, so that we can be a living sacrifice, so that we can truly see just how HUGE our God is. Be encouraged today!
