The Beautiful House Cleaning in our lives
Don't you just love House Cleaning?! I know, some of you honestly do and feel as if there is great satisfaction when you complete a task like that. Others feel as if cleaning is cathartic in a way. Yet three are others who dread the task and will put it off as long as possible. Where are you on this spectrum?
As we begin the new year. We all need to do some house cleaning in our own lives before we can move on to accomplish our goals for this coming week, month, or year (and I highly encourage setting goals...successful people always set goals because to not set goals is to simply exists and react in life...and that's not what God wants for you).
1) I get to assume responsibility for your own life.
I know this isn't popular in today's culture. We have songs like "Look What You Made Me Do!" which many know and sing. But it's a complete lie. No one can make you do anything! Everything you do is your choice.
2) I get to believe that I can change
. Stop saying "I Can't" and begin saying "I Can." For the believer, both of these statements are partially true. In reality, I can't do things on my own strength because I just don't have enough of it and I Can do ALL THINGS through Christ who gives me strength. I would also tag a short phrase on the end of that last sentence and say "He gives me strength to accomplish the things...which He planned for me to do which bring Him glory.
3) I get to Clarify what I really want.
Job 34:4 "Let us choose what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good." God, by His spirit allows us to see what is good and what isn't. We have the ability to transform the "good" things into our "values" that we should live by. If you don't know your values, then you will never know the bullseye in the middle of the target that you should be heading towards. We all have to say "YES" to our values and "No" to those things which compromise our values. If you haven't clarified your values, you haven't clarified what you really want...
4) I get to begin cleaning my house today!
Don't procrastinate. The roots of procrastination is actually perfectionism. There will never be the perfect time nor the perfect situation for anything...so don't wait. There is also something beautiful and supernatural that happens when you begin moving out in faith and cleaning your house. You draw near to God and you begin receiving the energy and encouragement from the very Spirit of God.
Be encouraged today as you walk in the strength and the power of the Lord!
